Nothing says “Monday” like an overly complicated recipe that churns out a “meh” sandwich, am I right? Yeah this turned out bland and pouring melted cheese over the top made no sense. Very much middle of the road, flavor-wise. The chive plus up was good but not enough to fully rescue it.

This was a tasty little number. Mushrooms sautéed in butter with nutmeg? Yes, please, and thank you. Just screamed for the nutty tastiness of melted Gruyere cheese to me. Plus up solved!

I’m not a huge fan of ketchup (except as a potato chip flavor) but I don’t hate it. So when I saw the two main ingredients here I was skeptical. But it turned out just fine. But plussing it up with the Grilled Cheese Treatment™ using smoked butter made it a much more complex, flavorful sandwich.

This sandwich was not snappy to make. But it was a bit snappy flavor-wise. Which helped save it a bit. Plussed it up with crispy fried jalapeños for texture and heat but yeah, never going to make this again.

Another odd sandwich here. It had parts that worked well together such as the peanuts and the beef but overall just another mess of a sandwich. Adding the giardiniera salsa was a whim that worked out really well. Tanginess of the giardiniera and spicy tomatoey salsa worked great with the flavors of the sandwich.

After the two oddball sandwiches earlier in the week, this was a pleasant surprise. The whipped egg whites got a little crunch to them, the yolk was still runny (which I like). Then you had the layer of cheddar cheese underneath. Since there wasn’t any seasoning, I hauled off and plussed it up with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning Blend with it’s salt, dehydrated onion and garlic, and sesame seeds. Yum.

This was a pretty easy but flavorful International Sandwich Sunday. Ground beef, tomatoes, habanero peppers, and more. Plussed it up with a little Kewpie mayo and butter lettuce which help tame the heat a tad, provide richness, and freshness. Tasty stuff.

In The Chips withBarry!
🇧🇷 Raízes Cassava Chips
It didn’t dawn on me until well after I recorded and edited this that these were cassava chips 🤦♂️ . Simple but definitely tasty.
Torres Tapas Pickle Potato Chips
These were tasty if not low on the pickle flavor. More pickle relish than anything. Some folks commented that it didn’t say dill pickle on the bag. While they may have a point, the pickle that is on the bag looks like a dill pickle. And nowhere on the bag did they indicate what kind of pickle it was supposed to be.
Keya’s Black Salt Potato Chips
I always struggle to describe black salt. It has a sulfurous quality to it but in a tasty way (see what I mean?). This was one tasty chip that I am fairly sure was balanced out by the use of amchur powder (dried mango).
Can It Sandwich?
This week’s Can It Sandwich? was…interesting. The star of the show was, of course, the Black Salt potato chips from Keya’s. But how did the others do? You’ll have to watch to find out!
