Travel Note: New Orleans - Stein's

This will be a brief travel note as I need to prep ingredients for today’s LIVE - the making of the Francesinha. Yesterday we had opportunity to stop by Steins, one of the must stop places for a sandwich in New Orleans. This place ain’t gonna serve you a Po’ Boy or Muffuletta. No, this is a straight up old-school sandwich joint with some great sandwiches. I’ll pull together the video post for Monday but thought I’d give you a sneak peak.

First up the sandwich I ate that was recommended by Chef Mason Hereford of Turkey and The Wolf. It’s the Sam with extra slaw seen below. The sandwich seems simple enough, pastrami with cole slaw on seed rye. But here’s the thing, they griddle the thick pieces of pastrami which complete plussed up the sandwich. So tasty, highly recommend.
