Plus up: Tajín | Salted Plum Powder
Plussed up rating: 7 1/2 | 7 1/2
Hard to go wrong with pineapple and cream cheese, right? The plus ups, while different, both brought some interesting complexity to the sandwich. The Tajíin with it's tart/salty/slight amount of heat. And the salted plum powder with it's soury salt goodness. Both really worked well.

Plus up: Scott's East North Carolina BBQ Sauce
Plussed up rating: 7
This wasn't bad but also wasn't mind-blowing. I've received feedback that it needed a lot more black pepper (which probably would've made the score higher tbh). Plussed it up with a rather thin but tart East North Carolina BBQs from Scott's. Brought some nice dimension to it.

Plus up: Cucumbers and salt

Despite the fact that jarred peanut butter was coming on the market around the time of this recipe, they still had us pound peanuts to a paste. The interesting part was the addition of Worcestershire Sauce which added a little interesting tang to. Not mind-blowingly great but interesting. Taking a cue from beloved dill pickle peanut butter sandwiches of my youth, I plussed it up with cucumber. Crunch, freshness and a nice foil to the tangy Worcestershire Sauce.

Plus up: Shrettuce, tartare sauce, seasoned slice of tomato
Plussed up rating: 8
If you've ever had the Oyster Loaf from Casamento's in New Orleans, this sandwich being called an Oyster Loaf is a bit disappointing (see also me). Still, fried oysters in buttered bread? Yeah, I'm in. Made it Po Boy-eque in the plus up and somehow failed to add the Crystal Hot Sauce. What was I thinking?

Plus up: Smoked black peppercorns
Plussed up rating: 7
The combo of tartare sauce and Dijon mustard was new to me and I dug it. Interesting choice for beef as well. Decided to plus it up with a little smoked black peppercorn to give it a little smoky bit. Arugula would've also been a solid plus up.

Plus up: Melted cheddar cheese
Plussed up rating: 7 1/2
Every once in a while, the sandwichverse fires up the sandwich signal. This week it was my friend Bennett over at Cookin' with Congrees. As part of his "eating like you series" he made this sandwich which, on it's surface, sounds insane. But as I discuss in the video it works (I also go into why). Then plussed it up with melted cheddar cheese which kind of tied it all together. Go figure.
International Sandwich Sunday

Plus up: Putting a crust on the corned beef and Japanes Seven Spice Hot Mustard
Plussed up rating: 7 1/2
This international sandwich definitely had to be a holdover from Britain's rule over Hong Kong. After all, scrambled eggs and corned beef aren't exactly paragons of Chinese cuisine. It was tasty but I felt the corned beef needed a little somethin' somethin' in addition to punch. Enter the spicy Japanese mustard with wasabi. Whoa.
In The Chips
While these didn't taste like any saté sauce I've had, they were pretty tasty.
I love this idea, Chicago flavors on potato chips. This tasted more like hot giardiniera then Italian Beef but still delicious.
The final of the three flavors from Lay's celebrating the World Cup. And, in my opinion, probably their best effort. Deep, caramelized onions and brothy flavor. Not so much the cheese part though.
Well, can it?
Well, that's it for the last week. More sandwiches and chips to come next week. Thanks for reading and watching!
Cheers,
Barry
