Open Up To Sandwiches...

...and leave room for potato chips. This week saw the launch of batch 2 for Sandwiches of History X NEWKS Collabrian Plus Up Hot Sauce. Woot!

Let's see what else is happening? Got rejected for a TV concept (yet again). This time by Netflix. Starting think I am in the doldrums when comes to companies wanting to work with me. My accounts are either too small or too large lol. Oh well, not gonna stop me.

Continuing work on the next cookbook which will contain 80-ish plussed up adapted sandwiches intended to be cut up into bite sized portions that are passed at cocktail parties, tea parties, or any party, really. Expect to hear more about that over the coming months up to its release next year.

That's the update for now, on to the sandwiches!

Special Sandwiches (The Netherlands)

Plus up(s): Chill powder seasoning blend
Plussed up rating: 5 1/2

Was not sure a vegetarian sandwich recipe from The Netherlands would be like. Turns out, a variation on a beans sandwich. Not so much with the vegetables. Unlike the bean based sandwich of history from the United States, this did not start off using baked beans (sweet, tomoatoey, with bacon) as the base. Which left the plus up potential wide open. But, me, I couldn't help myself when I saw the ingredients. Chili powders plus up it was!

100 Varieties of Sandwiches

I kinda dread having to do a recipe that calls for brown bread. I have learned over the years that if the recipe calls for Boston Brown Bread, they'll sat that or just capitalize the B. Otherwise I would use the kind that is half white/half whole wheat. In either case I'd have a number of folks tellming me I got it wrong. Lol such is my life. The contents, lentils, cheese, sauce, had potential if it was anodd fit with the sweet bread. I thought brining in the sweet/savory bridge ingredient mango chutney would do the trick. I thought wrong. Just didn't work.

A Cook Book for Nurses

Plus up(s): Bell's Poultry Seasoning and black pepper
Plussed up rating: 6

Ah yes, harkening back to one of the earliest sandwich I did, the Dairy Sandwich. At least this had more to it like, chicken. Lol What it didn't have a lot more of was interestning flavor so I plussed it up with a little Bell's Poulty Season and black pepper. And did the trick right quick

The Up-To-Date Sandwich Book

Plus up(s): Salt, pepper, and chive

I didn't mention when I did the sandwich but recipes like these exist solely to use leftovers. No on was expected to go out, buy halibut, cook it, cool it, then make sandwich immediately. Except me, of course. It was tasty, as you'd imagine, all on it's own. Just need a little seasoning is all.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Titty

Ahh the Twitty Burger. A simply concoction whose point of differentiation was dipping a pineapple ring in graham cracker cumbs and frying it in shortening. Honestly, it was pretty tasty. Not sure I'd base an entire restaurant or chain around it though. When it cam to plus ups, the sky was the limit but if there was a time bust out the bacon, this was it.

our history

Some folks wrote in asking about the original sandwich. The thing is, he retired that quite on purpose. He wants that to stay between him and her forever. The recipe he shared with by was inspired by that sandwich and his sister. And I have to say the layers upon layers of flavor here is tremendous. An absolute home run of a sandwich which just happens to be vegetariaa,

International Sandwich Sunday

Rating:7 1/2
Plus up(s): Arugula
Plussed up rating: 8

Another great, filling, tasty sandwich for International Sandwich. I was absolutely nervous at how watery the baked part was going into the oven. But it set up nicely and when combined with the other ingredients, made for tasty if verrrrrry fulling sandwich. I think might be improved by making the knish sized. I plussed it up with arugula which brought a nice, peppery bite. Flat leaf parsley would also be great here. Hey, why no both!

Justin Week! (yeah, I named the week after the person who sent me the chip instad of the corporation that made them l0l). First up, buttered corn. Flavor was great but with very thin, Lay's-like chips, it quickly devovled into a bag of debris

These tasted mainy of chili powder with a little cheese. Not bad. But if you put a hot dog on the bag, I want there be a hot dog flavor too. Nope.

These were....interesting. The ad flavors of mustard dill pickle...all the things that come on a hamburger, which was great. Even had as very slight grilled meaty flavor. Missing? A strong enough cheese flavor.

Let's not kid ourselves. If you want to watch the dancing, be my guest. But I'm pretty sure you know how everything turned out

Well, we did it again! Managed to get though a week full of interesting if not odd sandwiches and some pretty good potato chips. More to come next week!

Thanks for watching and reading!

Cheers,
Barry
